Ag Day 2023: The Future of Food

The Canadian Cattle Association (CCA) attended Ag Day 2023 on February 15, 2023, in Ottawa by meeting with parliamentarians and engaging with other leaders in agriculture to provide a Team Beef perspective on the future of the Canadian food industry.

While in Ottawa, Nathan Phinney, CCA President, and CCA staff met with Members of Parliament (MPs) and government officials to discuss policy issues impacting beef producers and shaping trade opportunities for Canadian beef exports.

Canadian Cattle Youth Council (Youth Council) and Canadian Cattle Young Leaders (CYL) members Charlene Yungblut, Danika Mayer, and Victor Drury also travelled to Ottawa to represent Canadian beef producers. Along with CCA staff, they participated in Farm Credit Canada's Ag Day, which featured speakers and panel discussions surrounding agricultural innovation and 'The Future of Food.' Thank you to our Canadian CYL Gold Sponsor, Farm Credit Canada, for making our young leaders' participation in the event possible. Charlene Yungblut, the Youth Council's President, also had the opportunity to meet with the Canadian Agricultural Youth Council to connect with other young leaders during her time in Ottawa.

Ag Day was an excellent opportunity for CCA to connect with other members of the agricultural community in person. Together, we celebrated our accomplishments as a sector and strategized on how to continue innovating by working together to reduce food waste, practice environmental stewardship, and use technology to reduce carbon emissions while feeding more people than ever before. CCA representatives in attendance were proud to voice the role Canadian beef will play on the global scale as we envision the Future of Food.

CCA also shared the following post on social media platforms to show appreciation for consumers who support beef farmers and ranchers across the country by choosing Canadian beef. Find it on Twitter through the link below:
