CCA hosts trilateral discussions with American and Mexican counterparts

The Canadian Cattle Association (CCA) thanks National Cattlemen's Beef Association and Confederación Nacional De Organizaciones Ganaderas leadership who participated in the Canadian Beef Industry Conference in Calgary.

We appreciated the opportunity to host discussions on shared challenges in the beef industry across North America including mitigating potential disease outbreaks in livestock and the importance of sustainability in the sector.

One highlight was a panel discussion between the presidents of the three national cattle associations from Canada, the United States and Mexico. President Nathan Phinney represented CCA, Todd Wilkinson represented the National Cattlemen's Beef Association (NCBA), and Homero Garcia de la Llata represented the National Confederation of Livestock Producers (CNOG).

The panel focused on the multiple opportunities and challenges these three countries and industries share, as well as the areas of current and future cooperation. CCA was privileged to host this discussion, which was the first public panel with all three presidents. Some of the key topics covered included animal health and welfare, rule-based trade, sustainability of the industry, public perception of beef production, and drought and other extreme weather conditions.
