CCA led Canadian multi-stakeholder statement ahead of United Nations Food Systems Summit

On September 22, 2021, the Canadian Cattlemen's Association (CCA), along with 21 other Canadian agri-food production leaders, united together and released a statement ahead of the United Nations Food Systems Summit (UNFSS) to celebrate Canada’s achievements and commit to continue to advance Canada’s leadership role in the production of safe, sustainable and nutritious food.

In the statement, CCA President, Bob Lowe, said, “Agriculture has an amazing capacity to contribute to climate change solutions, in Canada many of our agriculture products, including beef, have half the GHG footprint in comparison to our global partners. That’s because we have strategically invested for generations in research, innovation and the application of these practices through the supply chain. We have to share what we have achieved, but also strive to do more.”

CCA has received a positive response from government officials and stakeholders on our leadership throughout the leadup to the UNFSS, including: our pre-summit dialogues with the Nature Conservancy of Canada, the multi-stakeholder statement and our general solution-oriented approach to the UNFSS. The UNFSS concluded on September 24, 2021. Following the Summit, the CCA will continue to build momentum and continue these important conversations on a domestic and international level.
