Young beef producers represent the next generation at annual youth fly-in

The Canadian Cattle Youth Council participated in its sixth annual fly-in last week while in the Nation's capital ahead of the Canadian Cattle Association (CCA) Annual General Meeting.

On March 21, 2023, youth council delegates from across the country met with various Members of Parliament (MPs), senators, staff, and representatives from the Prime Minister's Youth Council to raise awareness of the opportunities and challenges of key importance to Canada's young beef farmers and ranchers.

Priorities discussed included the essential role cattle production plays in conserving Canada's grasslands and enhancing biodiversity, how improvements to the Livestock Price Insurance program can help build the economic resiliency of young producers, and the importance of trade growth.

The Youth Council also connected with Federal Agriculture Minister, Marie-Claude Bibeau, at the annual CCA reception on the Hill. March 22, 2023.

Tune in below to hear the Canadian Cattle Youth Council's President, Charlene Yungblut, and Vice President, Scott Gerbrandt, speak to the vital role of trade growth in building a sustainable industry for generations to come, and how Bill C-282 creates trade uncertainty for our young producers as they look to grow their operations.

Thank you to all Parliamentarians and staff who made time to meet with the future of Canada's beef industry.
