CCA representatives have dedicated significant time to advocating on behalf of the Canadian cattle industry and Canadian beef producers about potential tariffs imposed by the USA. Our efforts throughout January include:
followed comments in the USA leading up to and after President Trump’s inauguration
met with Global Affairs and Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) negotiators on USA
met with Minister MacAulay
discussions with the Prime Minister's office
met with Minister Ng's leadership team
regular “team beef” meetings to bring all provincial and national stakeholders together
set up in-person advocacy in the USA through DC and stakeholder's events
In addition, President Nathan Phinney and Executive Vice President Dennis Laycraft accepted several media interview requests for radio, print and television to share our concerns and hopes that the successful integration of the North American cattle market can continue unimpeded.
