CCA and the Beef Cattle Research Council (BCRC), Canfax and Public & Stakeholder Engagement divisions have been joined by summer interns who will assist in a wide variety of projects during the summer. The internships aim to help students learn about the beef industry, CCA, and about the variety of projects each CCA division is working on. Additionally, interns have the opportunity to expand their networks and build both personal and technical skills that will assist them as they enter into their careers.
We are excited to introduce our interns for this summer:
CCA Intern Elise Mohler

My name is Elise Mohler and I am the CCA intern for the summer. I grew up on a commercial cow/calf operation outside of Strome, Alberta and was an active 4-H member for 9 years. In 2024, I obtained my Bachelor of Science in Animal Health majoring in food animals from the University of Alberta and now have completed my first year of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Calgary. My goal as a future veterinarian is to support beef producer and rural communities by working as a mixed or large animal veterinarian.
During this summer at the CCA I am looking forward to assisting in various areas including the Canadian Young Leaders (CYL) program and The Environmental Stewardship Award (TESA) program. As an intern I am looking forward to networking with industry professionals and continue to broaden my understanding of the beef industry.
BCRC Intern Jenny Delorme

My name is Jenny Delorme, I am from Portage La Prairie, Manitoba. I have recently graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture majoring in Animal Science and minoring in Agribusiness.
I was involved in my local 4-H and grew up on a small hobby farm working with cattle and horses. I am the intern with the BCRC and I will be assisting their extension team on a variety of projects this summer. A goal of mine this summer is to grow my connections within the industry, learn more about new research and learn more about the BCRC’s role. This summer I am excited to meet and learn from leaders of the beef industry and overall develop the basis of my career in the beef industry.
CanFax Intern Clare Starosta

My name is Clare Starosta, and I am from a family-run grain and cattle operation located near Dalroy, Alberta. We run a commercial cow-calf herd consisting of Simmental-Red Angus-cross cows with Charolais bulls and background our calves. I am currently entering my fourth and final year at the University of Saskatchewan where I am pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture with a major in Animal Science and a minor in Agricultural Business.
In addition to the hands-on cattle experience I’ve gained on my own farm, I have also assisted master’s students at the university in conducting nutrition trials with both beef and dairy cattle. After completing my degree, I plan to pursue a master’s degree and eventually work in the industry while also managing my own farm.
This summer, I am interning with Canfax where I will have the opportunity to learn how to perform various roles, including member relations and database coordination, market analysis, and research analysis. I am particularly excited to learn how to analyze market trends as I plan to apply this knowledge to make informed decisions about when to buy and sell cattle on my own farm. I am also looking forward to expanding my professional network and learning as much as I can from industry experts.
Public & Stakeholder Engagement Intern Jessica Davey

My name is Jessica Davey and I am from a beef cattle farm southwest of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. My family owns and operates Rivendale Cattle Company with a herd of purebred Black Angus and Shorthorns, as well as commercial cattle.
I am finishing my degree at the University of Saskatchewan in the College of Agriculture of Bioresources with a major in Animal Science and a minor in Agribusiness. I have been involved in the Agricultural Students Association, Usask agriculture clubs, as well as 4-H, and junior beef breed associations.
I am very passionate about the beef industry, beef, and sharing the story of our industry and building transparency with consumers and youth. I look forward to my internship with the Canadian Cattle Association Public and Stakeholder Engagement team.
