Maritime and Quebec producers meet with Parliamentarians during Spring Fly-Ins

Maritimes Fly-In Highlights:

On April 25, 2023, beef producers from New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland met with Members of Parliament (MPs) and Senators from a variety of political parties to discuss issues on both the regional and federal scale. Meetings centred around risk management programs such as Livestock Price Insurance, international trade and transportation of live animals, and the key role cattle play in preserving the environment and sequestering carbon.

In this video, Larry Weatherby and Dean Manning describe why they made time to travel to Ottawa for these meetings. Dean says, "it's important for beef producers across the country to talk to our MPs and their advisors and anyone... involved in the agriculture industry because we have to look after the economic sustainability, the environment, and all of those things that take place for us to be successful in our farms and ranches across the country."

Thanks to all of the producers and parliamentarians that participated in these meetings!

Quebec Fly-In Highlights:

Last week, CCA staff and members of Les Producteurs de bovins du Québec met with Bloc Québécois, Liberal, Conservative, and Independent Parliamentarians during their time in Ottawa. Delegates emphasized many of the concerns that have been prioritized in other meetings this spring pertaining to transportation, Livestock Price Insurance, and trade, as well as Specified Risk Material regulations which hinder exports of cattle to the United States.

In the video below, Vice-President of Les Producteurs de bovins du Québec Philippe Alain and Director General and Secretary-Treasurer André Roy speak to the value of their annual fly-in.

CCA is looking forward to welcoming cattle producers from the prairies later this spring.
