Consumers have growing interest in the beef they eat, how cattle are raised and the impact of their dietary choices on the environment. Engaging in these conversations is vital in ensuring the industry continues to have social licence to operate. Since 2013, the Beef Advocacy Canada (BAC) website has registered nearly 700 beef advocates, helping to close the gap between pasture and plate. The original program trained farmers and ranchers, as well as people working in partner industries, on the basics of beef production, social media, and best consumer-focused communication practices.
As with any website, user experience and the relevance of certain information decrease over time. Over the next several months, BAC course content and mode of delivery will be updated and refreshed. The goal is an interactive and user-friendly program, complete with greater emphasis on addressing key consumer issues.
Upon release of the improved site, new and former graduates can expect continued access to resources and updates through quarterly newsletters. The new site is expected to be live in late Summer 2021.
Questions about updates to the program or completion timelines can be directed to Lynsay Beavers at beaversl@cattle.ca
