Calving webinar for young producers coming up on Feb 8, 2022


The Canadian Cattlemen's Association's (CCA) Young Cattlemen's Council is pleased to present a "Calving Tales" webinar on February 8, 2022 at 6:00 pm MT aimed at young Canadian beef farmers and ranchers.


The free event is open to all and will feature a panel of beef producers from across the country who will draw from their own calving experiences to share tips and tricks to help set the next generation up for success. Join us for an interactive sessions where young people are encouraged to bring their questions and be ready to engage in conversation!

The Young Cattlemen's Council is a youth subsidiary of the Canadian Cattlemen's Association, and welcomes beef enthusiast from across Canada between the ages of 18-40. The vision of the Young Cattlemen’s Council is to cultivate youthful leadership by exposing YCC delegates to industry policy development, while giving them opportunities to gain experience and bring fresh ideas to the CCA and Canadian beef cattle industry. Webinar Speaker Bios:

David Haywood-Farmer

David Haywood-Farmer is a third-generation rancher operating Indian Gardens Ranch Ltd. near Savona, BC. The ranch is run in partnership with his cousin, Bob Haywood-Farmer and his wife, Kathleen. David has been married to his wife Bonnie for over 40 years, where the ranch has an active next generation involved in the daily operation of the ranch which runs Angus-Hereford influence females. From 2018-2020, he served as President of the Canadian Cattlemen’s Association (CCA), and currently serves as CCA Past President. David also served as President of the BC Cattlemen’s Association from 2012-2014.


Tyler Fulton

Tyler and Dorelle Fulton, along with their kids Evan and Mae, own and operate Tyton Farm Ltd, a 600 head cow/calf/backgrounding operation south of Birtle, Manitoba. They are the third generation of cattle producers to operate the farm, with parents David and Verna Fulton still active on the farm. The farm consists of about 6,000 acres in prairie pothole country with most of it being pasture and the remaining cultivated land used for hay, corn and other feed production. The commercial cowherd is predominantly a mix of Angus, Gelbvieh and Simmental breeds with the calving season in mid-April to May timeframe. Tyler is the President of Manitoba Beef Producers and serves as a Director with the Canadian Cattlemen's Association.


Stan Christensen

Stan Christensen operates a beef cattle operation with his wife Cheryl and his son Ian in Lac Ste Marie, Quebec. His operation sells purebred Red Angus bulls, bred heifers and direct markets beef as a local product, as all animals are born on the farm. Calving time is mid-March through to early summer with cows calving in an area sheltered by surrounding forest which is a prominent part of the farm. Stan is a director for the Quebec Cattle Producers and President for his regional group. He has been active with the Quebec Angus Association for many years and is a Past President of the Canadian Angus Association.
