The House of Commons Standing Committee on International Trade (the Committee) has been studying Bill C-18, the Act which will implement a trade continuity agreement between Canada and the U.K. and CCA was invited to appear. Last Friday, February 26, Doug Sawyer, CCA Director and Chair of the Foreign Trade Committee and Fawn Jackson, CCA Director of Government and International Relations, appeared before the Committee to share their views and recommendations on ensuring further trade with the U.K. benefits beef producers. One of CCA’s key recommendations was to strongly encourage a swift return to the negotiating table to establish a permanent, progressive and ambitious free-trade agreement that would culminate in the U.K. joining the Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).
CCA continually monitors and engages decision-makers to ensure favourable trade agreements with the U.K. and with other jurisdictions. For more information on CCA’s foreign trade policy positions and advocacy efforts, contact Fawn Jackson.
