In January, beef producers in Southern Alberta faced a feed shortage due to rail disruptions. The Canadian Cattlemen's Association (CCA) worked closely with our industry partners, the Government of Canada, and Canadian Pacific Railway (CP Rail) to determine the cause of the delays and find a solution that saw the railway get the needed feed to producers as soon as possible.
CCA will continue to monitor the situation to avoid shortages moving forward. CP Rail was responsive to both our inquiries on behalf of the industry as well as with the Government. We are pleased to see the railway steadily moving animal feed now.
