The Canadian Roundtable for Sustainable Beef (CRSB) was so pleased to be able to hold their first in-person event since 2019 this week in Ottawa!
They had a great turnout with nearly 50 folks in Ottawa with great representation across all member groups. It was so wonderful to be able to visit face-to-face. Nearly 50 people joined virtually throughout the day and engaged in the discussions happening live.
Thank you to everyone who was part of the event!
They had several important virtual updates and presentations from partners and collaborators across the country.
All four CRSB committees held meetings during the event to discuss CRSB business. Updates and engagement were provided including the following and much more:
Progress on the 2023 National Beef Sustainability Assessment, currently underway, and with peer-reviewed publications planned
An update on the review of the Certified Sustainable Beef Framework
An overview of current digital campaigns, preliminary consumer research results, and brainstorming strategies to encourage producer participation in CRSB Certification
Presentation of amended CRSB By-laws, which will be distributed for member ratification next week
The CRSB Council also met and appreciated the feedback from members on the draft strategy and business plan, which were discussed through breakout discussions, both in Ottawa and virtually.
They were pleased to share the event with the Canadian Cattlemen’s Association, observe their meetings and visit with many of their board members and staff at their banquet. Attendees also had the opportunity to participate in the CCA’s annual reception at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa.
