CYL Program hosts virtual mentorship workshop for participants and their industry leading mentors

(L-R) Guest speaker, Kim McConnell, and Alltech Beef Account Manager, Vicky Horn, at the CYL virtual mentorship workshop.

On December 15, 2021, the Cattlemen's Young Leaders (CYL) Mentorship Program hosted a virtual workshop for its 16 program participants and their mentors about unlocking the true power of mentorship. Established in 2010 under the Canadian Cattlemen's Association, the CYL Program gives young people involved in all areas of Canada's beef supply chain ages 18-35 the opportunity to be paired with an industry leader in their specific area of interest for a nine-month mentorship.

The virtual workshop was proudly presented by CYL Program sponsor, Alltech, featuring award-winning mentor and Canadian Agricultural Hall of Fame inductee, Kim McConnell. Through an interactive workshop, McConnell shared entertaining, thought provoking tales on how mentorship is truly the avenue to progress in today's times, followed by an engaging Q&A session. After the workshop, mentors and mentees split off into one on one Zoom breakout room sessions to discuss the evening's topics and continue making plans together on how to achieve their CYL mentee's ambitious professional and personal development goals through the program.

Thank you to Alltech Beef Account Manager, Vicky Horn, for joining the CYL group for an exciting evening and Alltech's continued support of the program and mentorship in the Canadian beef industry. The CYL Program would also like to thank guest speaker, Kim McConnell, for generously donating his time to come and speak to the group.

Are you a young person in the beef industry who is interested in benefiting from mentorship? Applications for the 2022-2023 CYL program year open in early January 2022!
