Last call to apply to the Cattlemen's Young Leaders Mentorship Program

Updated: Oct 18, 2022

There's still time to apply to the Cattlemen's Young Leaders (CYL) Mentorship Program! The deadline is quickly approaching where application forms can be found at www.cattlemensyoungleaders.com and are due March 31, 2022, at 11:59 pm MT. The CYL Program is a national initiative of the Canadian Cattlemen’s Association (CCA), where young people ages 18-35 who are passionate about the Canadian beef industry are equipped with the tools and skills they need to continue to drive the future success of the industry.

Through the program, participants are paired with an industry leader in their specific area of interest in the beef industry for a nine-month mentorship opportunity. In addition to being matched with a mentor, participants are given a $2,000 budget to fund various learning, travel, and networking opportunities of their choice. Although the program is popular amongst young beef farmers and ranchers, it’s open to young people involved in all areas of the beef supply chain, including students, veterinarians, animal nutritionists, and much more! We strongly value diversity amongst applicants where all are welcome to apply, as it plays a key role in young leaders gaining exposure to new ideas and creating peer learning experiences.

After the intake deadline on March 31, 2022, the application forms are judged and narrowed down to 24 semi-finalists who will win a FREE trip to compete for one of 16 spots in the program at the annual CYL Selections competition held at the Canadian Beef Industry Conference August 16-18, 2022, in Penticton, BC. The opportunities for these young leaders would not be possible without the tremendous support received from our generous program sponsors. Funding for the CYL Program is made available through Foundation Partners Cargill, MNP, McDonald’s Canada, and New Holland. The program also receives support from Gold Sponsors Farm Credit Canada, Alltech, RBC Future Launch, and Elanco, along with program sponsorship from the Alberta Cattle Feeders’ Association and Kim McConnell.

Please direct any questions about the program or application process to CCA Youth Leadership Coordinator, Jessica Radau, at radauj@cattle.ca.
