Policy meeting momentum continues with Manitoba Beef Producers’ fly-in

Updated: Oct 18, 2022

On May 31, 2022, staff and producer representatives from the Manitoba Beef Producers were in Ottawa to continue conversations on important policy priorities including the environment and climate change, addressing market access barriers in current and future trade agreements, and concerns relating to Health Canada’s proposed front-of-package labelling regulations that would require ground beef sold at retail to carry a “High in Saturated Fat" warning label.

Several in-person meetings were held with Members of Parliament and Senators, with additional meetings held virtually throughout the week. Many meetings were with new connections for the Canadian Cattlemen's Association (CCA), as we are continuing to broaden our circle of contacts. Overall, another productive week of engagement with government officials.
