It is a busy spring for producers and for the Canadian Cattlemen's Association (CCA) Ottawa office as they continue organize meetings with parliamentarians during our provincial fly-ins to discuss priority files.
Last week, Saskatchewan and Alberta met with House and Senate representatives regarding environmental initiatives, trade, business risk management and transportation. CCA’s summer intern, Emma Cross, joined for some meetings as well adding a youth perspective. Producer representatives met with several familiar faces including John Barlow, Earl Dreeshen and Randy Hoback and many more besides. Each meeting, whether with those our producers know in their home ridings or with elected representatives who are a little newer to the cattle industry, is an important element of CCA’s overall advocacy.
We are grateful for the time CCA representatives devote to coordinating and participating in these meetings, especially during a busy time of year. The spring provincial fly-ins are wrapping up and we are looking ahead to the potential of summer ranch tours, COVID-permitting.
MP Earl Dreeshen meets with (top to bottom) Lauren Martin, Emma Cross and Kelly Smith-Fraser.
