Public and Stakeholder Engagement was proud to launch its newest documentary titled “Too Close to Home” last week in advance of Earth Day.
With the rise of devastating and intense fire events across Canada, it is clear that wildfire mitigation strategies are urgently needed. After witnessing firsthand how grazing can impact fire behaviour, ranchers, researchers, and municipalities have come together to collaborate on a series of pilot projects in British Columbia utilizing cattle to reduce fire risk adjacent to urban communities. Grass feeds fires, but it can also feed cattle.
In partnership with the British Columbia (BC) Cattlemen’s Association, an exclusive virtual screening event was held on April 20, 2022. Following a viewing of the short documentary, an interactive panel discussion was held with representatives from the BC Cattlemen’s Association, the BC Government and a local rancher involved in the project and concluded with questions from the audience.
