Delegates of the Canadian Cattlemen’s Association’s Young Cattlemen’s Council were pleased to participate in virtual meetings with parliamentarians throughout the end of March to discuss issues of importance to young producers across Canada. The voice of the beef industry’s next generation remains essential in creating a strong, vibrant future for the sector.
The Council is comprised of young Canadian beef enthusiasts ages 18-40, with a vision to cultivate youthful leadership by exposing YCC delegates to industry policy development and giving young people the opportunity to bring fresh ideas to the table.
During these meetings, the Council was able to amplify opportunities and challenges facing young producers across the country regarding business risk management programs, succession planning, the beef industry’s commitment to conservation and environmental sustainability, and how proposed food labelling and guidelines could negatively impact beef.
Thank you to Conservative Ag Critic, Lianne Rood, Members of Parliament Francis Drouin, John Barlow, Cathy McLeod, John Nater, Blaine Calkins, Andrew Scheer, as well as Senator Colin Deacon, for taking time to meet with the future leaders of Canada’s beef industry. The Council looks forward to future discussions and collaboration to further the success and sustainability of Canada’s beef cattle sector.
